Currently, we are running two contests. First, we are are running a contest based on the ability of our members to predict information regarding the 2008 Major League Baseball season, including the playoffs and World Series. The prize for this contest will be a 100.00 gift certificate to Amazon.com. Second is a contest regarding political questions that will run until after the 2008 Presidential election. In this case, the prize is a $40.00 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
Only members that have made more predictions than the average member in the category of the contest will be eligible (the category for the baseball contest is sports, and the category for the political contest is politics). This will prevent a person from making one prediction, getting it right, and then having a 100% prediction success rate. The winner will be the person that predicts the largest percentage correctly that are listed on the 'Make a general prediction' or 'Make a local prediction' lists. For the first contest, the winner's percentage will be based only on those questions relating to the 2008 Major League Baseball season. For the second contest, all of the questions in the political category for which we have identified a correct answer will be counted. Predictions that are made through the 'Create your own prediction' will not be counted. If two members have the same percentage, then the person with the most predictions in the relevant category will be the winner. If there is still a tie, then the winner will be chosen at random amongst the tied individuals.
